Grants Pass, Oregon

Located in Josephine County of Southern Oregon, Grants Pass is located off of Interstate Highway 5, just 29 miles northwest of Medford and 256 miles south of Portland. As of July 2022,  the population of Josephine County was recorded as 87,730 and Grants Pass census is 38,327 as of January 2024. It is known for its close proximity to the internationally renowned Wild and Scenic Rogue River, which runs through the city and provides hiking, rafting, fishing, swimming, and boating access to locals and visitors alike.

Grants Pass also provides easy access to the Illinois River as well as Oregon Caves National Monument, 30 miles south. Highway 199 heads southwest along a pristine stretch of the Smith River through the Redwoods on the way to Brookings, the most southerly city on the Oregon Coast, located just 96 miles away. Rogue Community College operates the Redwood Campus in Grants Pass and serves over 5,828 students in Josephine County.

Home to the Women’s Health Center of Southern Oregon and Asante Three Rivers Hospital, Grants Pass offers a number of high-quality medical providers offering acute and emergency services to residents. Asante Three Rivers was the first hospital in Oregon to be designated a “Baby-Friendly” Hospital by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. They are also ranked second in Oregon for orthopedic services.

This city has a total area of 11 square miles and boasts a charming historic downtown district and a thriving small business community supported by the Grants Pass Chamber of Commerce. Annual events such as the Boatnik Festival with parade and jet boat races in May, Concerts in Riverside Park every Tuesday throughout the summer, Art Along the Rogue every October, and the Fabulous 50’s charity car show event in July, bring the Josephine County community together for art, music, and lots of outdoor family fun. The median listing price of existing homes for sale in Grants Pass in November 2023  was $375,000.
